Travel is exciting. But long flights, new foods, and busy days can throw your body off.
We asked our team (and their frequent-flyer friends) for their go-to wellness tips while travelling. Here’s what came up:
1. Book a morning arrival
If you're crossing time zones, aim to land in the morning. Exposure to daylight helps reset your body clock and beat jet lag faster. The earlier you land, the sooner you adjust.
2. Eat something light before you fly
It’s tempting to load up on airport snacks, but heavy meals and cabin pressure don’t mix well. Stick to something simple before boarding. Your gut will handle takeoff and turbulence better.
Psst, anothing thing is to double up on things that make your gut feel good - pro & pre-biotics, kombucha, and yes, Sea Moss.
3. Switch to local time as soon as you board
This one makes a difference. Change your watch and adjust your mindset. Sleep or stay awake based on where you’re going, not where you’ve been.
4. Use the hotel kettle for more than tea
Run it through once with clean water. Then use it to refill your bottle with warm water, or prep instant oats or soup in a pinch. It’s an underrated travel hack, especially when you arrive late or the food options are limited.
5. Wear compression socks (yes, really)
Not just for grandparents. Compression socks can help reduce swelling, improve circulation, and prevent that heavy-leg feeling after long flights.
6. Open your windows when you arrive
Fresh air does more than clear the room. It also tells your body: “This is where we are now.” A little sunlight and airflow help ground you in a new space and help you adjust quicker.
7. Plan one “nothing” day
Give yourself space to do nothing. No tours. No reservations. No plans. Just rest, walk, journal, nap—whatever you feel. Your body will thank you.
8. Take notes
Keep a small note on your phone:
-
What helped you sleep
-
What you ate that felt good
-
What your body needed more (or less) of
It might seem small, but it will be good to go back, reflect, and plan accordingly next time. We promise, you’ll travel better every time.
